Story
Hi there,
I am yet again taking on the Great Adventure Challenge as a part of Team Starlight.
This Challenge is supporting the Starlight Children's Foundation where we aim to brighten the lives of seriously ill children, teens and their families across Australia.
Every minute of every day, a child is admitted to a hospital in Australia. Through our programs such as the Starlight Express Room, Wishgranting and Livewire, we brighten their days by replacing pain, fear and stress with enjoyment and happiness.
Childhood is a time for play, imagination, fun and laughter and we believe kids should not be defined by their illness.
Last year I had the aim of learning to ride a bicycle - I went on a bike three times but did not compete in the bike legs. Even if I'm not on the bike legs again, I am determined to still confidently ride a bike! I also cannot wait to take on this 80km+ challenge!
I am taking on the Great Adventure Challenge and making a difference in the lives of seriously ill children with the Starlight Children’s Foundation. The Starlight Children’s Foundation transforms the experience of hospitalisation and treatment for seriously ill children and their families - Starlight is the only children’s charity with a permanent, physical presence in every major paediatric hospital in the country.
Every minute of every day a child is admitted to hospital in Australia. For thousands of these children what happens next is the diagnosis of a serious or chronic illness that changes their life, and the lives of their families, forever.
This is where Starlight steps in - delivering a range of innovative programs, built on the World Health Organisation’s social model of health, to support the well-being and resilience of these seriously ill children and their families.
